Why is cedar wood such an awesome wood for outdoor projects? Cedar wood is a light wood, soft, and durable even in the harshest of elements. Cedar is a common wood in the use of bird houses, bird feeders, and bat houses. This is due to its tendency to be immune to rotting and decay. Cedar also has a high resistance to rot, warping, swelling, and decay making it a perfect choice for outdoor wooden projects.

This condition may cause the afflicted individual to feel like they have a cold or the flu. Typically however, this is a result of inhaling the saw dust or the cedar tree. It’s not so common if you’re just handling cedar wood or products constructed of cedar wood as opposed to the actual inhaled dust itself.

Thankfully, Country Anvil has used cedar wood for a long time and we haven’t experienced any negative effects from such close contact with the dust or the material itself. Cedar wood has been a great medium for the construction of bird houses and bird feeders in that it is easy to work with and has a very good outdoor lifespan.
Our feathered friends have had no negative reactions because of our cedar wood use and this we are sure of as we enjoy watching them eat, nest, and feed from such products. However, ingestion of cedar wood may cause problems in our feathered friends, this is a very low risk as they normally don’t attempt to consume this or any other type of building material.
